Please see the below invitation from the New York City Department of Environmental Protection for an upcoming digital public meeting.
The DEP will host a digital public meeting on Sept. 29 to discuss our $1.5 billion project to build a new drinking water tunnel between Kensico Reservoir and the Catskill-Delaware Ultraviolet Treatment Facility in Mount Pleasant. The meeting will start at 7 p.m.
The Kensico-Eastview Connection (KEC) project, first announced in 2018, includes the construction of a 2-mile-long tunnel, and structures that will connect the tunnel to the reservoir and the treatment facility. The project also includes roadwork, landscaping and other upgrades around DEP’s Kensico Reservoir campus.
Importantly, this project will improve the operational flexibility between facilities that are vital to the drinking water supply for more than 9 million people in New York City and Westchester County, ensuring the delivery of high-quality water for the century ahead.
