What is acceptable brush to put out for pickup?

Brush collection is a service provided to Mount Pleasant residents whereby the Highway Department collects and disposes of the following yard waste material ONLY:

  • Fallen tree branches or moderate amounts of tree prunings cut into 4 ft lengths and placed curbside in a neat pile (not in the road)
  • Bagged grass clippings
  • Bagged plant material such as flowers, vegetables, weeds, leaves, twigs and small ornamental plantings free of dirt balls
  • Bagged hedge clippings only
  • Please Note: Entire rows of hedges or large ornamental bushes removed by a homeowner or contractor in a landscaping project Will Not Be Taken, No Exceptions! (The homeowner or contractor must make their own arrangements for removal of those materials.)
  • Please Note: Brush collection is not meant for the disposal of entire trees removed from private property - The homeowner or contractor they employ is responsible for the disposal of any tree taken down from private property, No Exceptions!
  • The highway department is responsible for the removal and disposal of entire trees from town property only.
