Commuter Parking (Hawthorne & Valhalla Metro North Stations)
Commuter Parking Permits are valid for both the Hawthorne and Valhalla Metro North train stations at the rates outlined below. Only one car per permit. The fee is set each year by the Town Board and is not pro-rated.
NEW FOR 2024!! To fit the normal calendar year, Annual Commuter Parking Permits will now be valid from January 1 through December 31 every year. We will honor the 2023 Permit expiration date of February 29, 2024, but will begin selling 2024 Permits on October 30, 2023. If you purchased a 2023 Permit, your 2024 Permit will be prorated. Permits will continue to be sold in person or by mail.
You will need the following:
- Current car registration
- Valid Driver's License
- Cash or check made payable to the Town of Mount Pleasant
Your registration and driver's license must show your current address in Mount Pleasant to qualify for the Mount Pleasant resident rate. You are required by law to notify the DMV within ten days of a change of address. If a new resident, you must provide a printout of your change of address from the DMV.
Parking Permit Fees
- Yearly (Resident): $375
- Yearly (Non-resident): $600
- Full-time Student Commuting to an Educational Institution: $125 (proof required)
- Weekly (5 Consecutive Business Days): $45
- One-Day Daily Pass: $10
- Daily Senior Rate (Age 65+): $5
- Replacement Permit: $30 replacement fee with return of current parking permit (sticker). If the current parking permit is not returned, the full annual fee must be paid.

The holder of a commuter parking permit sticker requiring changes to their permit, such as a new car, must surrender the original sticker to the Town Clerk's Office for a replacement or the commuter will be responsible for buying a new parking permit at full price.
Please be advised, if the permitted vehicle is out of service, please call the Town Clerk's Office at 914-742-2312 the day before or early in the morning to report a substitute vehicle. Failure to notify the Town Clerk's Office may result in a parking ticket. Please understand this convenience is not to be used for regularly interchanging vehicles.
