I was in an auto accident and need to get a copy of the accident report. How do I do that?
Once an Officer takes an accident report, it takes approximately 3 working days to fully process the report. It can be picked up at Police Headquarters, Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. It can also be mailed. Send a self addressed, stamped envelope with cover letter stating the date, time, location, drivers name, and any other information pertaining to the accident. The Mount Pleasant Police Department no longer charges an administrative fee for copies of accident reports or event reports.
Should I report suspicious activity in my neighborhood?
The police department depends on citizens to report suspicious activity. The dispatcher who takes your call will ask questions about the activity to determine its nature and ask for details. You do not have to give your name or address if you desire.
Why does it sometimes take longer for the police to arrive when I call?
All requests for police services are assigned a priority based on the seriousness of the incident. At times, calls that are less urgent must be delayed so that we can respond immediately to emergencies.
Who do I contact for a pistol permit?
Do not contact the Mount Pleasant Police Department to make application for a pistol permit. Local municipalities no longer accept and process applications. Contact the Westchester County Department of Public Safety (Pistol License Division) at 914-995-2709.
How do I get fingerprints taken for employment, ID, immigration or other non-criminal purposes?
The Mount Pleasant Police department will fingerprint any town resident or any person who works in the town for any legal purpose. Fingerprint cards must be produced by the applicant which are obtained from the agency or business requesting the prints. Mount Pleasant Police Department is NOT authorized to take immigration fingerprints, contact INS.
What is the D.A.R.E. Program?
The D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program is taught in schools by specially trained police officers. Positive and substantive, it relies on accurate information and an upbeat approach. D.A.R.E. officers visit with students in the classroom, conduct faculty workshops, and present programs to teacher/parent organizations. This approach provides a constructive and highly visible presence to the students and community. Until drug abuse is a thing of the past, D.A.R.E. will continue to be in the forefront to preventative measures.
The focus of D.A.R.E. is to:
Build confidence and self esteem.
Teach students to respect others and themselves.
Provide accurate information about drugs and alcohol.
Teach students the necessary decision-making skills.
Show students how to resist negative peer pressure.
Suggest healthy alternatives to drug use.

What are snow ordinance parking restrictions?
Effective December 1 through April 1, no vehicle shall park on any public street or highway in the Town of Mount Pleasant any time between the hours of 1:00 am and 6:00 am.
