DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |

Responsible for building and construction permits and enforcement of building, fire and zoning codes. The building department enforces all life, building, fire and zoning codes for all occupancies and residential construction performed in the Town of Mount Pleasant. Residential and commercial properties are required to obtain Building Permits for any and all structure improvements, renovations and structure changes.
The Building Department oversees: life safety, fire safety, environmental issues, landfill issues, property maintenance, zoning considerations, plumbing inspections, blasting considerations, elevator inspection, drainage and retention, and signage.
